When one of our New River Friends voiced a complaint to Senator John D. Rockefeller about the deplorable condition of this area (and the NPS failure to upkeep their currently owned properties maintained), made objection to a mosquito infested swamp on this same "camp" ground, as LaCrosse Encephalitis ranks 4th in the nation in WV, the NPS told Sen. Rockefeller: that while we see "this as a neglected unscenic area, we at the NPS see it as a "VERNAL POOL FOR WILDLIFE". Somebody had better give those fellows a new pair of glasses. You might want to consider the following when camping here:
Aw, but look at it this way: The NPS must feel wildlife is FAR more important than the illness/death of our children, obviously? And, you won't have to worry about the "scenic" view....the NPS is after all of our homes along this same road to "protect the scenic view" and the "perpetuity of your future" ....... Oh, and if you forget to bring food, there was a dear carcass laying in these logs when this photo was taken. AND, the NPS will allow you to burn this fallen wood for your campfire (while stating the smoke in OUR chimneys is polluting the environment) BUT DON'T GIVE ANY TO A POOR WV CHILD TO USE IT AT HOME TO KEEP WARM !! THAT'S A VIOLATION WITH THE NPS!! YALL COME NOW, HEAR?
